Online therapy cost calculator

Enter a plan and a number of months to estimate what Online-Therapy.com could cost you, including the first-month discount, renewals and the price per live session.

Short answer: Using the weekly prices listed in November 2026 and an average month of 52/12 weeks, Basic works out to about $208 for the first month and about $260 a month after that, Standard about $312 then about $390, and Premium about $416 then about $520. These are estimates. Check the final price at checkout.

The calculator

Everything is calculated in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent anywhere or saved.

Leave at 0 unless you have been approved. The provider decides eligibility and amount; this is only a "what if".

Optional: compare with in-person therapy

Use a quote from a local therapist or your insurer's copay or coinsurance. We do not supply a typical figure.

BasicNone (program, worksheets, messaging)about $48about $60about $208about $260
StandardOne 45-minute session per weekabout $72about $90about $312about $390
PremiumTwo 45-minute sessions per week, plus express repliesabout $96about $120about $416about $520

How the numbers are calculated

Online-Therapy.com shows its plans as a price per week but bills monthly. A calendar month is not exactly four weeks, so multiplying by 4 would understate the cost. We use 52 weeks divided by 12 months, which gives about 4.33 weeks per month on average.

The total over your chosen period is the first month plus the regular monthly estimate for each following month. For example, three months on Standard is $312 + $390 + $390 = $1,092.

Cost per live session divides the monthly estimate by the average number of included sessions. It is a way to compare value, not a price you can buy a single session at. Basic has no live sessions, so the calculator shows "not applicable" instead.

The in-person comparison simply multiplies the sessions per month you enter by the price you enter, and by the number of months. It does not include travel, time off work or missed-session fees, and it does not reflect any of the extra features of an online program, such as messaging or worksheets.

Worked example

Hypothetical: six months, one session a week

Imagine someone wants one live session per week for about six months and has not applied for financial aid.

  • Standard, first month: $72 x 52 / 12 = $312.
  • Standard, months 2-6: $90 x 52 / 12 = $390 each, so 5 x $390 = $1,950.
  • Total for six months: about $2,262.
  • Cost per live session after the first month: $390 / 4.33 = about $90.

If the same person had a local quote of, say, $120 per session and would go four times a month, the in-person total would be 4 x $120 x 6 = $2,880. The $120 is an example number for illustration only, not a typical fee. Plug in your own quote.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the calculator show a monthly price when Online-Therapy.com lists weekly prices?

Online-Therapy.com advertises plans as a price per week, but its FAQ says plans are billed monthly. We convert the weekly figure to an average month by multiplying by 52 and dividing by 12 (about 4.33 weeks). Your actual charge is the one shown at checkout, which may be calculated differently.

Is the 20% discount included in every month?

No. As listed in November 2026, the 20% discount applies to the first month only. From the second month the regular price applies, which is why the calculator shows two different monthly figures.

How do I know what financial aid I would get?

You cannot know in advance from this page. Online-Therapy.com says students, veterans and people on low income can apply during checkout and that the provider decides eligibility and the amount. The percentage field is only your own guess, so you can see how different amounts would change the total. Leave it at 0 if you have not applied. Our financial aid guide explains the process.

Does insurance reduce the cost?

Online-Therapy.com does not bill insurance directly. It provides itemized receipts that you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Whether you get anything back depends on your plan, so the calculator does not subtract any reimbursement.

Why is the cost per live session lower on Premium?

Premium includes two live sessions per week instead of one, so the monthly price is spread over more sessions. That only matters if you actually use both sessions each week. If you would use one, Standard is the cheaper way to get it.

Is my information saved or sent anywhere?

No. The numbers you enter are calculated by JavaScript in your own browser. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else, and nothing is stored after you close the page.
