Online therapy plan chooser

Four quick questions to see which Online-Therapy.com plan matches what you want, or whether a different kind of care is a better fit.

Short answer: If you do not need live sessions, Basic is the smallest plan. If you want one live session a week, Standard; two a week, Premium. If you need insurance billing, medication or crisis support, Online-Therapy.com is probably not the right fit, and the chooser points you to alternatives.

If you are thinking about suicide or self-harm, call or text 988 (US) or call 911. Online therapy is not an emergency service. See crisis resources.

The chooser

Runs in your browser. Your answers are not sent anywhere or saved.

1. Do you want live sessions with a therapist (video, voice or live text)?
2. If yes, how many live sessions per week?
4. Do you need any of these? (tick all that apply)

What each plan includes

PlanLive sessionsAlso includedEstimated monthly cost
BasicNone8-section CBT program, 25 worksheets, worksheet replies Monday to Friday, unlimited messaging, journal, activity plan, yoga and meditation videosabout $208 first month, then about $260
StandardOne 45-minute session per weekEverything in Basicabout $312 first month, then about $390
PremiumTwo 45-minute sessions per weekEverything in Basic, plus express repliesabout $416 first month, then about $520

Prices are about, as listed by Online-Therapy.com in November 2026 as weekly amounts ($48/$60, $72/$90, $96/$120) and billed monthly. We convert with weekly price x 52/12. The first month includes a 20% introductory discount. Check the final price at checkout. A couples plan also exists; we have not included it because we have not verified its US price.

How the chooser decides

  1. Safety first. If you tick crisis support, the chooser points you to crisis services before anything else. Online-Therapy.com is not a crisis service.
  2. Deal-breakers. If you need direct insurance billing or medication, the chooser says Online-Therapy.com is probably not the right fit on its own, because it does not offer those.
  3. Live sessions. No live sessions points to Basic, one per week to Standard and two per week to Premium. If you are not sure, it shows Basic and Standard side by side.
  4. Budget. If you enter a budget, the chooser compares it with the first month and the regular month. If even Basic is above your budget, it says so and suggests lower-cost routes instead of pushing a plan.

The chooser does not consider your symptoms, diagnosis or clinical history, and it cannot judge whether a particular format will work for you.

Frequently asked questions

Can the chooser tell me whether I need therapy?

No. It only matches what you say you want (live sessions, budget, practical needs) to what each Online-Therapy.com plan includes. It does not assess symptoms. A licensed clinician or your primary care provider can help you decide what kind of care you need.

Why would it say Online-Therapy.com is not the right fit?

Because for some needs it is not. As listed in November 2026, Online-Therapy.com does not bill insurance directly, does not prescribe medication and is not a crisis or emergency service. If any of those is essential for you, another route is likely to serve you better, and the tool says so.

Is Basic real therapy?

Basic includes the CBT-based program, worksheets with therapist replies Monday to Friday and unlimited messaging, but no live sessions. Some people find a structured program with written feedback enough; others want to talk with a therapist in real time. Our guide to therapy vs apps explains the differences between formats.

Can I change plans later?

Online-Therapy.com says you can upgrade or cancel at any time. Starting with a smaller plan and moving up if you want more contact is one option, but check the terms at checkout.

What if my budget is lower than every plan?

Financial aid may lower the price for students, veterans and people on low income, but the provider decides who qualifies and by how much. You can also look at sliding-scale clinics, community mental health centers and training clinics in our lower-cost care guide.

Are my answers stored?

No. The chooser runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are not sent to us or to Online-Therapy.com and disappear when you close the page.
